Shipping
From Vietnam.
To The World.
Every Lancaster Classics scooter is carefully prepared, protected and crated before leaving Vietnam. From the departure port to your destination, here is how the shipping process works.
The Journey
A Classic Scooter,
Ready To Travel.
From our workshop in Vietnam to a major international port.
Our scooters are carefully protected and crated before being shipped. Once the scooter has been shipped, we provide the documentation required for collection and import procedures.
Shipping arrangements can vary by destination, port and time of year. The information below outlines the current process and estimated charges for the destinations we commonly serve.
Please check the import regulations for your specific country before placing your order. Local duties, taxes, inspections and registration requirements are determined by the destination country and are not collected by Lancaster Classics in advance.
Destination
To The
USA.
For 1960s scooters, the import process begins when the crate reaches the U.S. port.
Arrival Notification
Once your scooter arrives at the Long Beach, CA Port, or another U.S. port, the shipping company will send you an official “Arrival Notice” notifying you that your crate has arrived.
The notice will also provide the timeframe within which you need to pick up your scooter, usually around 10 days.
Picking Up Your Scooter
- Take the documents you received to the 8th floor of the office building at 301 E Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA. There is ample parking.
- Upon exiting the elevator, proceed to the “Informal Arrival” counter where your crate will be cleared and your documents stamped.
- Take the stamped documents to the nearby warehouse, approximately three miles away.
- At the warehouse, present your paperwork, including a copy of the payment receipt to the freight company if necessary.
- The warehouse staff will assist with loading the crate into your vehicle. The loading fee is approximately $35.
- If you prefer to load the crate yourself, the loading fee may be waived.
- If you cannot collect the crate yourself, you can arrange for a broker to handle the process, including freight forwarding to your address.
Customs Clearance
If you prefer to have an agent handle customs clearance, contact the local warehouse. The staff there can recommend an agent. An additional fee will apply for this service.
Once the agent completes the clearance, you can pick up the scooter with your truck.
Pickup Timeline
The source information advises that you have 5 days to complete the pickup process. Delays beyond this period may incur additional fees.
Additional charges may include handling charges, destination charges and any required inspections by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) before you can proceed with DMV titling.

To The
UK.
Historic vehicles are treated differently when imported into the United Kingdom.
Importing a scooter into the UK is described as straightforward. Historic vehicles are exempt from duty taxes and subject to 5% VAT.
It is essential to declare the vehicle as a historic vehicle to avoid higher rates.
To complete the registration process at the DVLC, you will need a VAT receipt from Customs.
Destination
To
Australia.
Import preparation begins before the scooter arrives.
Before the scooter arrives in Australia, you must apply for an import permit.
Please ensure that you submit the required documents we send you, as failure to do so may result in fines.
The original information notes that two-wheeled vehicles are not explicitly mentioned in the legislation but are generally included under the import regulations.
